The municipality of Kalamata and the community of Poliani organized a celebration to commemorate the heroes of the revolution of 1821, Grigorio Dikaiu-Papaflesa and Christos Koromilas-Anagnostara from Poliani.
Last Sunday morning, a trisago took place at the place of the heroes’ busts in Poliani community, followed by the laying of wreaths, a minute’s silence in memory of the heroes and the playing of the national anthem by the city philharmonic. Kalamata.
There were greetings from the Mayor of Kalamata, Thanasis Vassilopoulos, Member of the Parliament of Messinia, Giannis Lambropoulos, Deputy Governor of Messinia, Statis Anastasopoulos, and the President of Poliani, Ioannis Mutsiula.
The Metropolitan of Messinia was represented by Rev. Nikodimos Angelopoulos, vicar of the Turia community. The ceremony of the day was delivered by the director of Turia General Higher Education Eleni Glegl.
The event ended with traditional dances from the En Choro Messinia Association, while the Amfieis Cultural Association took part in the event.
