A buoyant half-year despite June’s downturn due to liquidation

Recruitment increased 12.3% in the first half compared to the same period in 2023. Indeed, this shows the dynamism of the labor market, as evidenced by the 5.7 million job offers broadcast in the first half of 2024. Here are the detailed numbers of job offers by contract type:

Note These figures confirm the INSEE indicators with the creation of more than 75,100 jobs in the first quarter of 2024.

January, April and May were the most dynamic months of the semester (35%, 20% and 15% growth, respectively). However, the number of job offers decreased by 5.5% between June 2024 and June 2023, which can be explained by the dissolution of the President of the Republic.

Finally, Health and Social Services recruitment is much higher on permanent, part-time and work-study contracts (+40%) this semester. Conversely, accounting, management, finance, and auditing majors saw a 23% decline compared to the first half of 2023.

Recruitment is on the rise everywhere in France

For Ile-de-France. permanent, part-time, work-study and temporary employment fell by 4% in February and March, before an impressive turnaround ahead of April and the Olympics. Indeed, recruitment increased by 8% in April and then by 17% in May, thanks to the tourism, catering, hospitality sector (increase in offers was 51% in March and 84% in May). In June, the progress remained significant: +14%.

In terms of location, the Ile-de-France region accounts for 16% of the job offers posted on hellowork.com in France. At the regional level, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Nouvelle-Aquitaine registered increases of 13% and 14%. The same applies to Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Occitanie and Grand Est regions, which experience the most significant changes (21%, 17% and 16%).

Finally, in terms of cities, the metropolises of Aix-Marseille-Provence, Lyon, Toulouse and Strasbourg (14%, 12%, 12% and 10%) are making significant progress.
