The exhibition “Wanderings” was opened in the A49 art space
The activity of the A49 art space in the center of Kalamata continues with exhibitions that highlight important Messianic artists, making their work more widely known.
This period is also such an exhibition, where the works of painting and sculpture of the artist Athanasios Artemisios are presented, focusing on man and the environment in which he lives.
The opening of the aforementioned exhibition entitled “Wanderings” took place on Friday, June 14, and “Θ” took place, where the artist presented his view of his art to us.
Reflecting on his visual choice, Mr. Artemisios explained: “I’m moving towards expressionism and conceptual art. Gesture expression, color composition, installations with different materials are the elements through which I want to express feelings as well as messages.
For Mr. Artemisios (who was taught painting under the sculptor Christos Riganas, who characterizes the great sculptor of Messinia and Greece, while he studied under the Franco-Swiss painter Robert Tanner, from whom he was taught color and composition), his paintings refer to a form of expressionism. the aspect related to gestures and its expression, as well as the composition of colors.
Speaking about his other works, he mentioned. “They are minimalist constructions with different materials that carry the symbolism of each, focusing on man, the environment and our living conditions today.”
Speaking about his art as a means of expression, he said: Painting is not only to decorate the walls, but also to have a deeper meaning through its abstract dimension.”
